SUBJECT: Nokia Corp. Strategy Analysis

This is my Nokia Corp Strategy analysis. Given the increasing demand for next generation smart phone, many companies are offering free online content with brief ads. Nokia, segmenting to approximate 35% in the world mobile device market is one of the leading wireless companies around the world. Even Nokia already have stablity market on the world Nokia still offers a large of amount of new contents such as messaging, games, music, maps and applications, through its Ovi platform (Ingram, 2010b). By making their brand more appealing in the world global market, Nokia can advertising campaigns targeting the Gen-Y market

Nokia' Profile

Nokia was founded by Fredrik Idestam and Leo Mechelin in 1871. co-founder Leo Mechelin wanted to expand the company into an electricity business in the end of the 19th century, and with Idestam’s retirement in 1896, Mechelin could allow his envision to take place. It was not until 1981, when the first portable phone device was designed and by the 1990’s, Nokia became the top producer in mobile device manufacturing (by Wikipedia, 2010). Today, Nokia is run by president, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo and employees 128, 445 people in 120 countries, and sell its products in 150.

Competitive landscape

The primary factor driving competition in the mobile market. In today’s world, almost every individual owns a cell phone and every day it seems as if a new electronic device comes out. Each company is driven by the competition of mobile technology that continues to grow in high demands. In Nokia’s case, the iPhone and Blackberry are its main competition. If any company plans on contending, they must look at competitor products, and see how they can either match or better their features. The iPhone and Blackberry phones continues on the competitive scale along with Nokia, as they both constantly update their features and applications making their phones more appealing to the Gen Y era.

Nokia's Strategy

For many companies, it's a challenge to simplify technologies and still offer feature-rich products. There is a progressive and continous increase in consumer involvment with technology and communications globally. Nokia, accepts as an everyday goal. After all, at Nokia, "Connecting People" is not just the slogan, it's the mission of the business. Nokia has a clear set of targets for the future. It aims at making the right decisions made at the right time, believing that this will breed success. The company also believes that success is earned through determination and by foreseeing developing market opportunities as well as by courageously creating new markets and opportunities.Nokia's success as a mobile network supplier has provided a good base for also building the company's presence in the fixed network markets. During the 1990s, liberalisation of telecommunications markets has rapidly advanced in Europe and Asia. Today both accelerating liberalisation and a growing demand for bandwidth, especially in access network markets, offer new opportunities for new operators and system suppliers.

Nokia Gen-Y Implications

Nokia appeals to generation Y because Nokia is one of the stable, powerful brand and image in the world. Even though, Nokia started all and lower capitals and lower brand power than Samsung, Vodafone and LG. However, Nokia currently grew up one of the most popular mobile device producer in the world that because they have many advertising campaigns fit for gen-y provide what they exactly want.
